The Reference Section

Crowell Library offers a large range of Bible commentaries, Greek and Hebrew Lexicons, Bible dictionaries and atlases, and more in our Reference Collection located on the lower level of the Chicago campus library. These books are not available for checkout, as their purpose is to remain available for a large number of students. These items can only be used in-house.

If you are an online student in need of materials from our Reference Collection, you may request a partial scan of one of the items in our collection to be sent in a PDF format to your email. The requested scan must meet copyright compliance requirements. Many of our commentaries are also available online in e-book format.

We strive to continually update and maintain our Reference Collection with the best Bible study tools and materials available. If you notice we do not have a specific commentary or tool available, please fill out our Recommend a Purchase form so we can consider adding it to our collection as soon as possible.
